Autism Binder Cover Letter

July 23, 2007

We are pleased to provide you with this guidebook to assist you in learning more about Autism Spectrum Disorder (A.S.D.) and Pervasive Developmental Disorder (P.D.D.).

Caring for a family member with special needs can be both challenging and stressful. Trying to find information and services can add to that stress. Many families have found this guidebook helpful.

The information is organized as follows:

  • A detailed list of Agencies and the service they provide within the Region of Peel.
  • All contact names and numbers for the Agencies.
  • A Record Book for individuals with Autism.
  • A selection of articles that will give an understanding of Autism.
  • And several reference sheets.

We recommend that you:

  • Take the Record Book to every appointment you have about your family member. It has been our experience the more information and details you can provide about your family member with autism the more beneficial it is.
  • Keep a copy of any additional information you receive in the binder for quick reference.
  • Visit our website at www.cdrcp.com for more information and updates
  • Attend support group meetings and talk about your situation.
  • Contact the Peel Chapter of Autism Society of Ontario at 905 450 2299 or www.asopeel.org
  • We hope you find this binder helpful. This information and much more can be found on the Child Development Resource Connection Peel C.D.R.C.P. Website at www.cdrcp.com

P.S. Visit the website for updates to this material. It is updated twice a year.
