Costs vary depending on ages, number of children, and hours of care required. Call Child Care Info Peel for the most updated fee estimates.

Do I get a receipt for income tax purposes?
All licenced child care programs provide a receipt. Unlicenced child care programs may provide a receipt.

What is the difference between home based care and centre care?
Home based care is where you take your child to the home of a provider who provides care in her home for up to five children. Centre care is a program that is in a freestanding building or a separate facility within a school or community centre.

Is there a drop in program in my area?
Most areas in the region have drop in programs that are easily accessible. Call the Info Line for the programs closest to your home.

Who monitors the centres or homes?
Licenced centres and home child care agencies are monitored by the Ministry of Community, Family and Children's Services.

What is the difference between a nursery school, preschool program, and a child care centre?
The difference is the amount of hours that the program is open.

Can I find care for my child with special needs?
Centre care and home based care can accommodate most special needs. Check with the individual centres and home based agencies in your area.

Is there a centre close to my child's school that provides transportation back and forth?
Some centres or home providers can transport or walk children to local schools. When calling the centres or agencies, let them know what school your child attends so they can let you know if they transport children to that particular school.

How many children are allowed to be in a licenced private home?
No more than 5 children under the age of 10 at any time with these restrictions (including caregiver's children):
