Early Learning Advisor-Dr. Pascal

As you may know, I have been appointed by Ontario’s Premier Dalton McGuinty to advise him and his government on how best to implement full-day learning for Ontario’s four and five year olds. This opportunity is both an enormous honour and a considerable challenge.

Working in partnership with parents and guardians, full-day learning will provide Ontario children with supportive and developmentally enriched programs that help lay the foundation for a healthy and productive lifetime of learning. There is enormous interest in the future of full-day learning; indeed, many parents, educators and community leaders have already taken the lead in imagining this kind of programming in practical terms.

Implementing a program like this is complex, requiring consideration of many important issues by those who lead change "on the ground", where it counts for children and their families. This is not a one-person effort. I am relying on the expertise and knowledge that is available from a wide variety of stakeholders all over Ontario and beyond. So please provide your ideas. I will read and consider every response as I prepare my report to the Premier. This report will offer suggestions about how to begin program implementation in September 2010.

You are invited to share your thoughts and suggestions with Doctor Pascal to ensure the voices of Early Childhood Educators are heard. Please go to the link listed below:
